GIScience at CentroGeo

CentroGeo is dedicated to the generation, transmission and application of knowledge in GIScience and Contemporary Geography, establishing strong bonds with the demands and requirements of society. Technological innovation and development is also a substantial element of CentroGeo’s mission.

CentroGeo tries to give support and guidance to the decision-making processes and the strategic planning efforts of the productive, social, governmental Mexican sectors as well as for international organizations.

Its main action field is GIScience focusing on the study of the geographical space with a scientific and integral vision.

Institutionally, CentroGeo is a an independent and non-profit research and educational organization, supported by the Mexican National Science Foundation and associated with the SEP-CONACYT System. This System integrates 29 research centers in Mexico, dedicated to an ample range of areas of knowledge except the Arts and Medicine.

To the best of our knowledge, CentroGeo is the first and only research center dedicated to GIScience in Mexico and probably in Latin America.
