Multidisciplinary Connections

Description: Research, education and technological development is currently developed at CentroGeo through four main divisions; the Geomatics Division (that includes a Laboratory), the Education Division, the Technology Division and the Geography Division. The first three are centered on GIScience.

CentroGeo dedicated two years to the design of a scientific management model that would be adequate to the current national and international environment. Accordingly, research, technological development , education and the interaction with society is organized around multidisciplinary and heterarquical groups.

During these first three years of CentroGeo, this model has allowed the integration and development of a core group of researchers, technology developers and technicians (around 40) that have produce significant work in a very short period of time and in adverse institutional conditions.

Moreover, this model incorporates the concept of a virtual network (RedGeo) of researchers, specialists, technicians and institutions that have collaborated with CentroGeo since its foundation in 1999. Colleagues from Mexico and other countries (mainly USA, Canada, Colombia) are participating either as main researchers or as advisors in various projects. Collaboration agreements have been signed with Mexican Universities and research centers as well as with Canadian Universities and the University of South West Texas.
